This site is run on a server in my basement. This is sort of a hobby which I have learned a lot from. It hosts this site and other sites for friends. It costs little to run and since I own it, I can set it up however I want. The server is simply a normal computer with special server software. It shares the home DSL Internet connection with the rest of the computers in the house. This page provides a couple of pictures of the network, along with links to useful diagnostics and statistics about inner workings of this website.
I started out with windows as the server OS. The history of server operating systems are: Windows 98 SE, Windows XP, Mandrake Linux 9.0 (with full GUI), Redhat Linux 9, FreeBSD (4.9, 4.10, 4.11).
